Find Out How You Can Enjoy An Authentic Venetian Experience With The Convenience Of Train Travel

One day in Venice is all you need, and with the convenience of a train ticket from International Rail, travelling is convenient and easy.

Visiting Venice is the perfect addition to any Italian holiday. What makes a place like Venice so remarkable is that it's almost frozen in time. You can see the exact sights and sounds that tourists would have encountered hundreds of years ago, in all its tradition, history, and poetry. One day in Venice is all you need, and with the convenience of a train ticket from International Rail, travelling is convenient and easy.

Trenitalia is Italy's primary train operator and they provide regular connections to the Venice Santa Lucia Train Station. Once you've arrived at the station, you'll be able to travel through most of Venice's hundred or so islands either by foot or by gondola, weaving through the area's canals. You won't find scooters, buses or cars here. The streets are simply too narrow to be anything more than footpaths. If you're reasonably fit, some even say that you can walk from one end of Venice to the other in roughly 35 minutes!

If you're taking the train in from Rome or Milan, as most people do, a day is more than enough to explore the highlights of Venice. We recommend making your way to St. Mark's Square and starting from here.

Begin the morning with a leisurely walk through the Rialto Bridge and Market, followed by a visit to the Frari Church (going through the neighborhood of San Polo). From there you can walk through the Dorsoduro district toward the Accademia Museum and back to St. Mark's Square. There are plenty of things to see and do along the way, as well as opportunities to stop for a meal or drink.

Of course, no trip to Venice would be complete without a gondola ride, and you can take one at sunset before departing for the train station.

If you're keen on exploring Venice, all you'll need to do is book a Frecciargento train from Rome, or a Frecciabianca train from Milan. International Rail can assist you with all your rail travel arrangements, from the moment your plane lands to the moment you depart. If you're planning on an Italian vacation with a stop in Venice, allow us to help you make the most of it.
