  • Industrial action will take place in France on Thursday 16 October 2014, starting at 20:00 on Wednesday 15th October and ending at 08:00 on Friday 17 October 2014.
We have yet to receive details of which services will be affected, however the after sales conditions for French domestic journeys only are as follows
    SNCF journeys:
All tickets with reservation (regardless of the after-sales conditions stated on the ticket) valid for travel within France between 20:00 on Wednesday 15th October and 08:00 on Friday 17th October 2014 can be used on any other train, operating on the same route as the original ticket, from first thing on Wednesday 15th October until midnight on Friday 17th October 2014.
Seats/Sleeping berths cannot be guaranteed during this time.
Due to expected service disruptions, the timetable cannot be guaranteed.
In the event that an overnight train in France is cancelled, passengers with tickets valid to travel on that service are instead advised to travel on a day train operating on the same route.
Tickets must still be validated in the yellow machines at the station, prior to boarding the train.
    Exchanges and Refunds:
Customers due to travel within France from 20:00 on Wednesday 15th October until 08:00 on Friday 17th October 2014 who wish to cancel their journey, can obtain a full refund before or after departure.
If a customer wishes to postpone their journey for a date after the strike, this must be processed as a full refund, followed by the sale of a new ticket. Passengers will need to pay any difference in cost between the original tickets and the new tickets.
Passengers in possession of a return ticket, whose outbound journey is due to take place during the strike, can obtain a full refund on both the outbound and inbound legs of their journey.

  • Industrial action by the Deutsche Bahn

The German train drivers union has called a strike from 14:00 on Wednesday, 15.10.14 until 04:00 on Thursday, 16.10.14. The strike will affect local, long-distance and goods freight services across Germany.
Long-distance trains have already been running on a replacement timetable since 0:00 hours on Wednesday, 15.10.14.

By introducing this timetable, DB is attempting to enable as many customers as possible to reach their destinations, despite the announcement of the strike across Germany.
Night services CNL, D and EN should run as normal.
On Deutsche Bahn local services (including S-Bahn services), there will be cancellations during the rush hour from approx. 09:00 on Wednesday, 15.10.14.
In particular, restrictions can be expected from midday which will affect passengers after school breaks for the day. These adjustments to the timetable are necessary so that the effects on commuter traffic on Thursday 16.10.14 are kept to a minimum.
