Pass Conditions

Passes are in the form of an e-ticket that must be exchanged within 3 months from the date of issue at an East Japan exchange office.
Passes must be exchanged prior to your first train trip.
Japan East passes cover the JR operated lines in the specified area only.
The Nozomi Shinkansen bullet train is not covered.
Reservations can only be made locally.

Who is Eligible to use a Japan Pass

Foreign tourists visiting Japan from abroad for sight-seeing, under the entry status of "temporary visitor." This must be stamped in your passport.
Japanese nationals qualified to live permanently in another country.
Japanese nationals married to a non-Japanese and both reside in a country other than Japan.

Pass Refunds

E-Vouchers that have not been exchanged can be refunded within 12 months from the date of issue.
No refund can be made for any reason after the first date of use.Passes must be unused and in original condition.
A cancellation fee of 25% applies to approved refunds.
A JR EAST PASS cannot be refunded or extended due to interruptions in train service, late departures or any other reasons
Once exchanged lost or Stolen e-vouchers and passes are not refundable and cannot be replaced.
