Japan East Pass Conditions
Pass Conditions
- Passes are in the form of an e-ticket that must be
exchanged within 3 months from the date of issue at an East Japan
exchange office.
- Passes must be exchanged prior to your first train trip.
- Japan East passes cover the JR operated lines in the specified
area only.
- The Nozomi Shinkansen bullet train is not covered.
- Reservations can only be made locally.
Who is Eligible to use a Japan Pass
- Foreign tourists visiting Japan from abroad for sight-seeing,
under the entry status of "temporary visitor." This must be stamped
in your passport.
- Japanese nationals qualified to live permanently in another
country.
- Japanese nationals married to a non-Japanese and both reside in
a country other than Japan.
Pass Refunds
- E-Vouchers that have not been exchanged can be refunded within
12 months from the date of issue.
- No refund can be made for any reason after the first date of
use.Passes must be unused and in original condition.
- A cancellation fee of 25% applies to approved refunds.
- A JR EAST PASS cannot be refunded or extended due to
interruptions in train service, late departures or any other
reasons
- Once exchanged lost or Stolen e-vouchers and passes are
not refundable and cannot be replaced.
