Pass Conditions

  • Passes must be validated within 6 months of the date the pass is issued.
  • Backtracker passes cannot be purchased or used by residents of Australia.
  • You cannot board a train without a reservation.
  • Your Backtracker  pass is valid for economy class seats only.
  • Upgrades can be made for sleepers and first/business class seat when making reservations.
  • Upgrades must be purchased in addition to the pass and are subject to availability.
  • Baktracker passes are valid for CountryLink services throughout New South Wales, between Sydney and Melbourne, and Sydney and Brisbane only.
  • This pass is not valid on Brisbane City Train services and Melbourne metropolitan service.
  • Passport numbers and dates of birth are required.

 

Pass Refunds

  • Validated passes are non refundable.
  • Unused or validated passes must be submitted to International Rail within 12 months of the date issued.
  • A minimum cancellation fee of 25% for pass applies for approved refunds.
  • Lost or Stolen passes are not refundable and cannot be replaced.
