The Belmond British Pullman takes its name from an American, George Mortimer Pullman, who built The Pioneer in 1864, the first railway carriage designed with true comfort for the passenger. The British Pullman has carried Royalty and Heads of State around Great Britain.
The train forms part of the route (in the UK) of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, the world's most famous train. Being the sister train to the Venice Simplon Orient-Express, lunch and other dining is a very special experience.
Most journeys are behind diesel engines; there are some steam trains. The Belmond British Pullman has classic 'orient express style.
With day trips, dining experiences and afternoon teas, the British Pullman offers a range of journeys and excursions. These include day trips such to places such as Canterbury, Cambridge, Chatsworth House, Ely, Longleat, Sandringham, Worcester and York.
